Great opportunity for travel and new experiences July 17, 2022

I had the opportunity to take pretty interesting classes but not be stressed about academics. There were plenty of travel breaks to go elsewhere in Europe. Copenhagen is a really fun and safe city, albeit very expensive. I met lots of new friends and had a great experience overall.

DIS is a great program for someone looking to travel a lot and have a less structured abroad program. The study tours were a big highlight. |

My biggest complaint with DIS is that I was placed 45 min outside of Copenhagen in a suburb which made me feel disconnected from other students and the city. |

Students get all food on their own which means it's expensive but there is a stipend that lasts almost the whole semester. |

How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
There is very little integration happens unless you opt to live with Danes. This isn't the fault of DIS but is just a part of Danish culture. |

How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I never needed to access healthcare but heard there were no issues. |

Copenhagen is a very safe city. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |

For a student not getting financial help from parents, this program is tough. Be prepared to spend around $5-9k total if you are traveling often. Even though I spent a lot of money, I think it was well worth it. There are plenty of ways to be budget-friendly as well. |

All Danes speak perfect English, so while you can practice with them a little its not necessary to get around. |

| * What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Be ready to spend a ton of money and for the weather in Denmark to be rough up until you leave. Also, it's better to sometimes stay in Denmark rather than take rushed and expensive weekend trips. There is so much to do in Denmark and I wish I explored the country more. I also really recommend taking at least one class at the University of Copenhagen and opting to live with international students, not just Americans. |
