DIS Copenhagen: Semester

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I honestly enjoyed my experience a lot. Even thought I did not make many local friends, I was able to meet a lot of American students!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes overall were extremely interesting and hands-on. In comparison to my home institution, the classes focused a lot on presentations and hands-on instructions. Having an explorative elective was also extremely fun. In regards to the rigor, I would say that this depends a lot on the professor and course. My courses personally had less rigor than my home institution courses, some were easier than other.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I honestly loved my housing option, I chose to live in a regular residential area. I was assigned to a single that had its own bathroom and kitchenette which I enjoyed. I felt that the administration did a good job in matching me to the right housing. It did feel a bit isolating at first since my area was similiar to a dorm layout.

* Food:

Food in Copenhagen can be fairly expensive, so I mainly cooked meals at home. The program provided a meal card that we could use to buy groceries in certain stores.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Healthcare was accessible, but we were not given an insurance card until a couple of week in.

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
