Immersive Learning in Copenhagen January 02, 2025
By A student (Neuroscience, Wellesley College) - abroad from 08/17/2024 to 12/13/2024 with
DIS Copenhagen: Semester
I gained a much broader perspective on the world and my place in it, especially by being exposed to so many different kinds of people and places.
Personal Information
| How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
|
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The program was not academically rigorous, but it did provide numerous opportunities for immersive learning outside of the classroom, which was very valuable. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
There were lots of student resources that were easily accessible, and the process for getting a residency permit was very easy thanks to the program. |
|
* Housing:

|
| * Food: |
|
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I didn't live with a host family, but I was part of a program where I saw a local family 1-2 times a month, which helped build connections to the local culture and teach me more about the country. |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
N/A |
| * Safety: |
Copenhagen always felt like a very safe city, and there were emergency recourses given by the program just in case. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
This program was exactly what I was looking for. I got to take classes that were unlike anything offered at Wellesley, and there were lots of opportunities to learn by immersing myself in new cultures. |
Finances
|
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Copenhagen is a very expensive city |
