DIS Copenhagen: Semester

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so much about different cultures across the country. It opened my eyes to so many new worlds - different norms, traditions, ways of life, government systems, languages, people, etc. Studying abroad is so valuable to your personal growth, and you don't even realize it until it's over.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was not super rigorous, but definitely the level of intensity I was looking for out of this experience.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

DIS is very well organized, and I never had any issues with them. They were very communicative as well.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I was very satisfied, I lived in the very city center and walked to class everyday. I loved all my roommates and had a great time there.

* Food:

We had a grocery stipend, but other than that, we did not have a meal plan. We had a kitchen in our apartment that we cooked in everyday, but I enjoyed this system.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Pretty integrated, but you definitely had to go out and find unique ways to immerse.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Copenhagen was by far the safest city I went to. I never felt even a little unsafe or nervous about walking alone or at night.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Be smart with your grocery stipend, only buy what you need!

How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

How many hours per day did you use the language? 0

* What could be improved?
