It was 100% worthwhile. I gained a lot of independence and confidence.
Personal Information

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The courses were good and worked well with wanting to travel a lot. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The admin was the best. Anything you needed from finding a specialist doctor to getting a trashcan they were able and willing to help with. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Housing was also amazing. I was given a single apartment right off the metro about 10 minuets away from the hub. It gave me a very genuine experience of living in Copenhagen. |
* Food: |
We were given a food stipend. However we had to cook or get 100% of our own food. I personally enjoyed this experience as I like kitchen and had a good one in my apartement but friends of mine who weren't as skilled in the kitchen struggled a bit. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Helath care was complicated. I got sick a few times during my time abroad. You automatically get a assigned what we call a primary care doctor. Mine was very rude and told me, "you're in my country, you should speak my language." mind you I choose this program because it doesn't have a language requirement, and that was true in all other aspects of the program except this one. I also at one point had a pretty bad ear infection and needed to see a specialist. After DIS gave me a lists of doctors (very helpful) to call I need up calling 11 before one had an appointment in the next week. |
* Safety: |
I felt very safe my whole time there. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I had a great time in Denmark and this program is set up amazingly for if you want to do a lot of traveling while abroad. You break weeks where the whole program doesn't have classes. I traveled to 22 countries in 16 weeks while also completing all my courses. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Copenhagen is a very expensive city. I went into the program with a large savings and left with almost nothing. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 200 |

* Did your program have a foreign language component? | No |

The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
