I think studying abroad is just a priceless experience. It was worthwhile to me.

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I thought the classes were perfect. I took two classes during my two sessions in Copenhagen. The teachers are very knowledgeable and helpful. The amount of work is reasonable considering you get a whole class credit in just 3 weeks.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I think I got really lucky with my living arrangement. I lived in a residential community in Amager, right outside of the city. It would take about 15 minutes to bike to central Copenhagen where my classes were. There are different living arrangements all around the city though.

* Food:

The program does not provide food unless you are on a study tour in which case they provide 2 meals per day. I went grocery shopping and ate out which I really enjoyed.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It is hard to integrate into Danish culture especially since their language is so hard, but Copenhagen really felt like home by the end of the 2nd week for me.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt very safe in the city. Obviously, I would not wander around the city at night by myself, but if I was with a group, as in most places, I felt very safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I had such an amazing experience in Copenhagen and would not trade it for the world. It is a great city to study abroad and DIS did a great job arranging and accommodating for the students.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Living expenses in Copenhagen are very high because of high taxes they incorporate into most things you buy.

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I found it helpful to grocery shop instead of eating out all the time.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish that they gave out the schedule and syllabus more in advance for each class so I had more time to plan trips.
