It was definitely worthwhile.
Personal Information
| How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 1 month - 6 months |
Review Your Program
| * Overall educational experience Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
 |
| * Host Country Program Administration On-site administration of your program |
 |
| * Housing: How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? | Housing could have been better--biggest problem was lack of A/C. It was also quite spartan--that being said, it was perfectly functional and had an excellent location. |
| * Food: | Only breakfast was provided, and from what I heard it wasn't the best (nothing that needed to be cooked). Food in Prague in general was pretty good, though. |
| * Social & Cultural Integration: How integrated did you feel with the local culture? | It was a bit difficult considering I spoke only the tiniest bit of Czech. Still, some good memories--ie, watching football in the main square with a bunch of locals. |
| * Health Care: How well were health issues addressed during the program? | Can't really complain. |
| * Safety: | Prague is an amazingly safe city. 26 college students for more than a month, and not a single one of us had any problems with being robbed. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? | Yes
 |
Finances
| * Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) | Lunch could be had for about $5, dinner for about $10. Metro passes paid for by the school, which was good because we used it a ton. I spent about $1000 for five and a half weeks, including side trips. |
| * Was housing included in your program cost? | Yes |
| * Was food included in your program cost? | No |
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $175 |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Ask for tap water instead of buying a bottle at dinner. Take buses instead of trains for side trips. Buy souvenirs outside of the main tourist-y areas. |
Language
| * Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
| How much did the program encourage you to use the language? 0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language | We were taught some Czech, but because most people there speak English, it wasn't necessary to speak Czech to get around. |
| How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
| How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Beginner |
| What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | French 202 (equivalent) |
| How many hours per day did you use the language? |
