Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The student is allowed must take one ECCO program course, and normally takes at least one course through the University. I took 2 courses through the University of Bologna and one through the program. While the paperwork for registering for courses at the University can be very intimidating, the program office workers are fantastic and everything worked out very well. I enjoyed all my courses.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The workers at the ECCO program are absolutely fantastic, but we had a poor program director my particular year. This changes ever year, however.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I really lucked out with housing and had great apartment-mates, but some other kids on the program had poor living situations. You are able to transfer apartments, however.

* Food:

We cooked for ourselves.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The program is great. They helped us organize a concert at a local wine bar that went over fantastically.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

There is no other way to learn a language than to immerse oneself. Living with Italian students was critical to learning Italian.
