You cannot explain it; it must be experienced! Past Review

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that we in America take a lot for granted. Even just having up-to-date textbooks was something that the Bahamians struggled with. I learned that the children there look toward careers that help people. Americans tend to choose careers in which they are just bettering themselves.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

It was a change of pace compared to living in the states. It felt like I was going to camp for a week. I liked staying in the cabins instead of some fancy hotel (which wasn't even an option).

* Food:

The food was actually really good! I got to try new things while I was there, while still eating some of the stuff I was originally used to.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It was all worth the money. Scholarships helped to pay for most of my trip.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $250
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you don't plan on getting any souvenirs then you probably won't spend much money at all!
