What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This trip changed my life. I think about it every single day and want nothing more than to go back in time and do it all over again.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

This course allowed me to experience British works in more than one way. We read the books, learned history about the authors/characters/area, and then went to the places that inspired the authors or places that were talked about in the books we read. The course was not meant to challenge you in the typical classroom setting way. It challenges you personally and academically at the same time, while making your experience the top priority.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The Harlaxton staff was more than welcome and wanted to get to know the students individually. We were there for 5 weeks and felt close to the staff as if we lived there for a semester.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The Harlaxton manor is absolutely breath taking and becomes home after night one. The history and the grounds are enough to keep you there to explore.

* Food:

The food was interesting and healthy! It is different than American food, but there were always vegetarian options and a menu.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Harlaxton was a quick bike ride from the town. Grantham was only a 6 pound taxi drive and many of us spent our nights in the town, mingling with the locals. They are extremely friendly and always wanting to know about the American culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Never once did I feel unsafe in or around this campus.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I would do this program every summer for the rest of my life if I could.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

If you go in town or go to London, you will have to be ready to spend some money.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $100
