Experience of a Lifetime! Past Review
By A student (Eastern Illinois University) - abroad from 05/07/2017 to 05/16/2017 with
Eastern Illinois University (EIU): Winchester - The Sport Industry in the United Kingdom
I learned about several other cultures, the sport industry throughout Europe, and how curriculums in schools differ. I learned patience and flexibility too! The trip was definitely worth while, not only for my education, but for my personal and professional experiences. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and i recommend that anyone that's given the opportunity to study abroad, DO IT!

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
We learned a lot about the Sport Industry in the U.K. through hands-on activities at the University of Winchester and sporting events across the U.K. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Housing was identical to a college dorm, we did have private bathrooms/showers, which was really nice! |
* Food: |
There was a variety of food to eat daily, from multiple spots throughout campus. We also ventured off campus for many meals. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Extremely safe and walker friendly! |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
I would choose a program that was longer! Two weeks was too short and way too busy! |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
You didn't have to spend money outside of what was offered, but often we found ourselves wanting to go out and experience and do, which costed extra money. However, the U.K. is very reasonable. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $250 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Eat your budge of food at the university! |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
