About
This Social and Economic Development Study Abroad program will equip students with knowledge of Africa’s social and economic issues. Students will gain an understanding of the history of South Africa and the effects of the racial and oppressive regimes of colonialism and apartheid. Furthermore, students will be given the opportunity to spend time in various local communities to gain insight into the social and economic challenges being faced in South Africa today.
This program will include guest lectures by local experts across a range of topics pertaining to social and economic development in South Africa, as well as discussions and debates. The program will also include several visits to museums, sites of historical and cultural importance as well as time connecting with organizations working in these sectors. This practical engagement will help students to compare the theoretical aspects of the program with reality.
Students are equipped with:
