Emerson College: Kasteel Well: The Netherlands

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
A newfound interest in exploration and travel in general. I have the bug and hate being in one place! It was 200% worth while. I loved every minute

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I had the best teacher I have at Emerson in general, but definitely not across the board. 2 of my classes were easily the best I have taken so far in college, 1 was probably the worst, and 1 was somewhere in the middle.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The staff is incredible. So welcoming and friendly and willing to help if you let them and want them to.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I mean, it's a 14th century castle... It's beautiful but you are definitely aware of how old it is.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? Yes
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? For most weekend trips I took out 200 euro prior to leaving and always had money left over.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Don't hesitate to stay back a couple weekends. Well is just as interesting as the rest of Europe!
