Emerson College: Kasteel Well: The Netherlands

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was cool to see so many different cultures and countries and it made me want to travel to other continents too.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Too much of the work was given at the very end of the semester. I think it should have been more spread out over the course of the semester. Also, there was too much work assigned to be due the day after travel break ended, not giving people enough time to work on it.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

OSA was really awesome. I didn't think the fine system was a completely fair or effective means to enforce the rules.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Too small of showers in the main castle.

* Food:

The dining hall should be open longer.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Plan your trips once you get there, but look into the eurail pass in america because it's cheaper and is very useful and makes it easy, and cheap to get around europe if you use it right.
