Emerson College: Kasteel Well: The Netherlands

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Overall, I am definitely glad I did it. There were certain things that were disappointing, but also certain things that surpassed my expectations.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I definitely enjoyed the difference in teaching styles. It gave us the opportunity to learn in ways we wouldn't have in the United States. However, I didn't come out of the experience feeling particularly enriched. I have heard in the past that you don't go to Kasteel Well for the classes, and that is definitely true.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The Office of Student Affairs was wonderful and really made the experience above and beyond what I was expecting.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Great dining hall. It obviously would've been nice to have a wider range of selection during meals, but that is a minor complaint. The staff were wonderful and the food was delicious.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
