Emerson College: Kasteel Well: The Netherlands

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I would do it again in a heart beat! One of the best experiences of my life. I learned that there is a huge world of places that I have yet to experience and I'm excited to go back and see them all one day.

Personal Information

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The professors are very knowledgeable in their respective fields and since the majority of them are European asking them travel questions is a great way to get personalized advice.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They are all incredibly welcoming people and make your abroad experience absolutely amazing.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

You are living in a gorgeous castle! Once you get over the fact that the swans and geese will make noise at all hours the Kasteel Well is an absolutely beautiful place to live.

* Food:

The food choices can get repetitive. But I thought the Dining Hall Staff was very accommodating to our needs if we asked for specific foods etc.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Studying abroad for a semester is an whirlwind cultural experience. I encountered many different traditions, foods, people, cultures, languages that make you want to continue learning and experiencing.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I always felt safe and well taken care of.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I have an amazing time. I learned how to be more independent and live each experience to the fullest.
