Emerson College: Kasteel Well: The Netherlands

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was an experience that pretty much any kind of person would absolutely love and find to be so much more than worthwhile. I gained a lot of cultural knowledge and learned a lot about myself, made a lot of friends and had a ton of once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Personal Information

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Ideal--the rural setting is a nice contrast to Boston and the Castle itself couldn't be a better place to live

* Food:

It was good, not anything excellent

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

It was a safe area and the staff helped us feel even safer.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

It was good to be exposed to a variety of languages but I didn't really pick up any.

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Do it and try to take advantage of everything you can, because everything about the experience is once-in-a-lifetime.
