Emerson College: Los Angeles - Emerson College in Los Angeles
I gained contacts, a possible job, experience- you're basically thrown into a real life situation with (hopefully) what you love to do. AWESOME program. Emerson has a great connection with the city of LA.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Great academic help with classes and with the required internship course. Provided a forum to speak (or complain) about your internships and ask real-world questions. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Could use some tweaks to the administration. Everything is pretty fleshed out, small things need changing- like better parking (garage rules are confusing and parking behind school is restricted) |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Beautiful beautiful housing campus, large, convenient, wonderful pools, jacuzzis...condo-like apartments, spacious... |
* Food: |
No food service provided. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Good bonding activities for Emerson students, but they were treated sort of as if none of us knew each other. |
* Safety: |
Your safety outside of the housing complex is completely up to you, make good decisions, but I felt totally safe in the city. Some problems in the housing complex with break-ins, but from unknown sources. It is a metropolitan city. But security is great. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
Language acquisition improvement? |
Taught in English. |
A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | You should love LA. I wouldn't advise going if you've never visited LA before or didn't like it. It's a different city, I personally love it, but it's not for everyone. Be ready to work like a real 9-to-5 job. |
Individual Course Reviews
Course Name/Rating: |
Marketing Cross Promotions |
Course Department: | Marketing |
Instructor: | Rick Dunkle |
Instruction Language: | English |
Comments: | I took Marketing Cross Promotions with a new teacher, Rick Dunkle and he and the course were AWESOME. It was a small, discussion-based class where we created an ad campaign using across the board marketing ideas for a real movie that would come out in the next year or so. It felt like we were in an actual production meeting. |
Credit Transfer Issues: | Emerson class. |
