Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

This program provided me with enough real-life experience to get me started in the film industry. I honestly cannot stress how important this semester is to future directors, actors, producers, and marketers of the entertainment world. Boston is a fantastic launch point, but nothing compares to what LA has to offer, and Emerson definitely takes advantage of the opportunity through our extensive network out here. I recommend this program with my entire being.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Can't complain about a single thing this semester offered.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing is nice. I enjoyed living in the Oakwoods with the other colleges. I met tons of interesting people, and it almost felt like starting fresh at a new campus, except everyone was focused on a career in the entertainment business.

* Food:

We made our own food, but I certainly appreciated the Emerson sponsored BBQ's.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

LA is a social mecca. You will only succeed, however, if you go out and explore. Emerson offered a networking opportunity for students to meet parents of students and alumni now working in LA. We visited their homes and had the chance to talk with executives in the business. There was also a great networking opportunity hosted by Carnegie Melon that BU and Emerson were invited to. We need as many of these as we can get!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

We're confined in the Oakwoods with gated security. Nothing to worry about.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Do your research ahead of time! Don't get stuck in an internship that will make you miserable. Think creatively. I ended up working at a place I loved, and I met wonderful people willing to propel my career to the next step, so don't be the lazy, procrastinating student because LA cannot wait up for you!
