Opportunity to be immersed in culture and academics in Europe Past Review

By (Business Administration, University of Miami) - abroad from 07/01/2013 to 08/03/2013 with

ESAC: Summer in Prague - Business, Marketing and Humanities

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Best decision I made while studying. The experiences from the program and the summer are still fresh in my mind. As a graduate student there was a true comfort level with all administrators, teachers, undergraduates and graduates. The experience was so enriching that I have returned to the program to lecture after having completed my degrees. That is true lifelong support from ESAC!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Terrific balance between serious academics and time to be part of the culture in the EU.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

There are no better administrators anywhere. Completely supportive and comfortable with communicating at any time.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Hostel/Apartment living arrangements that are in a very central area of Prague. All amenities are around and you feel immersed in the European culture there. Prague accommodation can be expensive. The value is incredible.

* Food:

There was a meal plan on campus that was good, but food is affordable out in Prague and all foods are available , so no problems.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We were right in Prague 3, so there was daily opportunity to spend time in local neighborhoods, go to the park, visit sites and meet residents.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

A clinic was available just beside campus and a hospital was close to the residence hall as well.

* Safety:

No safety incidents occurred and Prague is as safe (if not safer) than any city in the US.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Prague is affordable but one can spend what they choose to....a lot or a little

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $150

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
