Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Classes were not that rigorous, which was great because it gave students the opportunity to really focus more on experiencing Germany rather than taking classes.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Really awesome staff!!!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Dorm rooms are very spacious. Kitchens have a dish washer.

* Food:

N/A you cook your own food. The school is conveniently close to a grocery store, a few bakeries, and a gelato shop so no one went hungry.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Through the program I did not feel that integrated into the culture. However, the school's location is great if you want to make the investment on your own time to get into the culture. I personally would take a 10 minute walk down to the river everyday to read. That is a great way to see and meet some Germans.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I never used the healthcare, but we did purchase health insurance.

* Safety:

Heidelberg is a super safe city!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I honestly did not keep track of my expenses. However you do need to purchase your own food and that can add up.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

  • Time to travel
  • Location of the School
  • Heidelberg's Old Town
* What could be improved?
  • Organization
  • Less Contemporary Art Museums
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I knew about the Eurail Pass. It is so good to have own because you can just hop on a train at any time and not worry about buying tickets. If you buy it before you leave it is free shipping. It is very convenient and a lot cheaper if you plan on taking multiple trips.
