What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?

I learned that there are more students in the world who are interested in and open to experience Asian culture, specifically Korean culture, than I ever expected. Although I am from Korea, it was worthwhile even for me to go back to the home country and have unique, interesting experience. I was exposed to diversified students from all over the world. I would love to go back and do it again!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.	Since one class that I took was an academic class (General Chemistry), it felt little too intense because I had to learn one semester worth of information in just a month. The other class that I took was a cultural class, and it was enjoyable but including a lot of useful information at the same time.
* Host Country Program Administration On-site administration of your program	They were very helpful and always available.
* Housing: How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?	I was able to stay at my home because I was originally from there.
* Food:	So much good food, good price!
* Social & Cultural Integration: How integrated did you feel with the local culture?	It was easy to go out and experience the culture everyday after school. Great transportation, and there are always people to go out with!
* Health Care: How well were health issues addressed during the program?
* Safety:	I was always with bunch of other people, so I did not really face any safety-related incidents. If you stay away from places you're not supposed to go, then it is safe.
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program?	Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)	Transportation and food cost was more expensive than I expected. However, since there are so many variety of food options, food cost can get flexible.
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week?	Since I stayed with my parents, I was able to only spend less than $100.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants?	Generally, food is cheaper than the states.

* Did your program have a foreign language component?	Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language? 0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language	If you don't take language courses, you don't need to use Korean. However, you are assigned to a peace buddy who are a local student, so you always have an access to learn.

What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure?	Korean is my first language
How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants?	Try to hang out with your peace buddy as much as possible and make Korean friends!

Comments:	It was a perfect course to take during the summer! The professor was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and interesting, and the students were very engaged to the class. The topics we talked about were interesting, and we always had good debates. The class effectively introduced Korean cultures to students.
Credit Transfer Issues:	I haven't had any issues.

Comments:	It was very challenging because of the nature of the subject. It was too much information to absorb in a short amount of time. The teacher was knowledgeable and well-prepared. However, I felt like there was a communication difficulty between students and the professor. Homework and project were doable, but the exams were hard.
