Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Much more reading than what we are used to at Wartburg, at least for the classes that I was a member of.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Communicated well. One must look past the "shortness" of communication. The administrators were very busy, and did not intend to be rude in verbal and written communication.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Being with w host family was the best part of the program! They took me into their family and treated me like their own son.

* Food:

Had very traditional German and Austrian dishes in my home.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Week long excursion to a different part of Europe was quite fun. My semester we went to Poland.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Berlin is very safe! The climate is comparable to small town, Midwestern US. Much safer than our big cities here in the US.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

Stay with a host family, and speak as much of the local language as you can, even if the host family speaks splendidly in your native language.
