Wonderful Experience Getting to Study Abroad in Berlin for One Month! Past Review
By A student (University of California - Santa Cruz) - abroad from 07/22/2018 to 08/18/2018 with
FUBiS - International Summer and Winter University
I think I learned the most (not only about the classes I took, but also about life) through my connection with other students, my professors, and the fellow friends I made that lived in my dorm. Like I said, thanks to all the international perspectives that were brought up during class discussions, it was eyeopening to talk about all these current events that happen worldwide with people that are actually from the respective country. I also feel like I have gained a huge amount of independence. This was my first time traveling alone, so I now have a lot more faith in myself that if I can figure out the S-Bhan train services, then I'm pretty much okay with anything! ... but on a serious note, I feel as though I have gotten better with my time management, because when studying abroad, I sometimes found it hard to balance work (school, homework, studying for exams) and life (going out with friends, visiting the local museums, etc.). However, after a little adjustment, I was able to catch on and continue on successfully with my studies but also being able to have fun outside of the classroom.

FUBiS Term III 2018 was such a wonderful and immersive summer program in all aspects! I not only took two courses, but got to go on class excursions and was also able to explore Germany's culture. From building a strong community within the university, to taking interesting classes (like "Global Challenges - Sustainable Futures" and "European Business Management"), it was such a great opportunity and am so grateful I got to study abroad in Berlin. The connections between students/professors, students/staff, and student/student were outstanding -- and I actually learned a lot from my peers, thanks to all the international perspectives that were brought up during class discussions. This is an experience I highly recommend to anyone! All the best :) |
