What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I wanted to experience a world where I could easily blend in while still learning new things. I noticed that the Irish population was very outgoing and started conversations with strangers while waiting in line. This friendly persona has come back with me to my school.

The work load was good. I had enough time to read and do my work while still being able to explore my living area.

On-site administration of your program

In the beginning, contact with the directors was hard because we did not have phones yet. After a few days everything got easier. The information packet that I received before the trip was full of great information regarding the program and Ireland.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My family was great. They really welcomed me into their home as another member as their family. I am still in contact with them.

* Food:

My roommates were vegetarians, and the host mother did a great job at accommodating for them. She is an excellent cook and was generous with quantities.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The excursions were perfect. I would go back in a heart beat and experience them again.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I never felt like I was put into a dangerous situation.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Be open-minded about the culture you are going to be living in. Do not be afraid to try new foods or go adventuring in your neighborhood with friends. Students who are easy to get along with and make friends, who are good at socializing and accepting others will get the most out of this experience.
