Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The teacher was very professional, friendly and was extremely patient. Books that the program provided were easy to understand and learn from. Within a week I could read a little bit of Chinese which I thought I could never do. One thing I wish they could add is more accommodations because I feel like every student has a different way of learning. For me it’s a struggle with reading and learning “pingyin”.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration was friendly and on point. Quick and effective communication.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Very satisfied with living. Getting to meet new people and family is always very refreshing.

* Food:

There is nothing to complain about the food in China. The variety of foods makes it one of the best experiences.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Very interesting culture. Got to learn a lot about the locals and their culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Haven’t experienced any health problems on the way so no comment on that.

* Safety:

Haven’t had any robberies; had never felt unsafe; never had any major incidents.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

It’s the only one I know I could relay on.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Living with only 1000us a month and still having 700 left after 1 month.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 75

The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
