By Eleonora S (Theatre/Politics/History/Anthopology, Wellesley College) - abroad from 09/18/2015 to 12/18/2015 with
Goldsmiths, University of London: London - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
It was worthwhile because I met people I would never have met at Wellesley

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The director of visiting students at Goldsmiths was not very good. She was not very helpful in letting us know our classes, when they started, how to access the website, or even how to change our classes. We also were not very informed on other students or general expectations of the school that teachers took for granted. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The living arrangement was great. I had a single, and a kitchen for the floor. |
* Food: |
I loved being able to make my own food. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
It was hard to talk to regular students. Also the coordinator of the visiting students at Goldsmiths was not very helpful in connecting visiting students amongst themselves and a friend of mine and to do it. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I had no need to use health care. |
* Safety: |
I felt very safe even though the area is supposedly not a very good one. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
yes because the classes were not very demanding so I had time to go around the city and hang out with the friends I made. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I spent about 200 plus on food, which was alright for me, but lower income students might have difficulty with this. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | maybe 60 ounds |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Get O2 phone service, not vodafone. And get a student oyster card |
