Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 1 month - 6 months |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Moderate workload, a grading system on a scale of 7, the course are more intensive but they count for more credits. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
There were support services in place but I didn't really utilize them. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I stayed in the Griffith University Village which was the convenient on-campus type apartment housing. It was perfect for meeting new people but there are cheaper options that are also closer to the beach. |
* Food: |
Very americanized, with similar diversity and shortcomings. Fish and chips shops are actually quite good. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The people are so friendly in Australia and there was also an international group that did events. Everyone loved to relax and have fun. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
My host city was safe and health was never an issue for me there. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Each week I would say I could spend about $40 on food if I didn't eat out but going out to social events is expensive if you drink a lot. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Shop smart, learn to cook for yourself is much cheaper than eating out. Pregame and go to happy hour. |
Language
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
