Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I didn't feel constantly stimulated by course work like I do at school in America, but I think it is because there was just less work to do...I spent significantly less time on school work so it wasn't the biggest part of my abroad experience.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

All excursions were well planned. When I had a bad host family in biarritz I immediately switched families because I was uncomfortable without any problem. The program really takes into consideration students' needs.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I was placed with a decent family in a great location.

* Food:

The host family gave me great home cooked food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I made friends at the french psychology school I went to, as well as through working at a cafe for community service and babysitting.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I went to the dr. many times without a problem, the administration or host family is quick to help students find health care.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

You must speak french on all excursions and with the host family, in addition to daily life in courses and extracurricular activities so it was impossible not to imporve langauge skills.

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Go for the full year. It's the best thing I could have done. I ended up loving it so much I stayed the summer too.
