Can't wait to return! Past Review
By A student (University of Wisconsin - Green Bay) - abroad from 07/03/2016 to 07/27/2016 with
Hebrew University of Jerusalem - Rothberg International School: Summer and Special Programs
I gained an insight into what I would like to do with my future career, and found a place I would like to call home someday. In my opinion, any travel experience is worthwhile, good or bad, and Israel is always a definite good.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Great, knowledgeable professor and a very interesting program. Daily trips to locations related to the class content, with days designated to intense lecture. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
It was a nice apartment, but previous tenants left their belongings and it wasn't very clean. My roommates were all from the U.S. or Canada, but we had Israeli neighbors. |
* Food: |
The few times I ate on campus were good, but I mostly ate in the city. The food is amazing and fresh, with quite a bit of variety. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
You have to seek out opportunities to integrate into the local culture, but it's not difficult. It's easy to feel a part of the culture through the markets, religious/historical sites, and interacting with others. There are always a variety of events nearby, which you can learn about from the university newsletter, which is sent via email, or through notices and personal connections. The light rail is your best friend. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
No health problems. |
* Safety: |
I never felt unsafe, however, it is good to be aware of your surroundings and not let your guard down. Watch the news before the trip and while you're there, so you know what is happening. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Depends on how much you like to buy things. Food is relatively inexpensive and transportation was great, only 5.9 shekels for a one-way trip (about $1.55) |
Language

The Academic or LinguistYou went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you! |
