What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Changed me in more ways that I would have imagined. Opened my eyes to the rest of the world, and made me fall in love with one place specifically

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was just about right for a study abroad program. The grading system was different then here in the states, because they regard a 75 as a B- so grades could get confusing. We had classes on Friday and a strict attendance policy which made it hard to travel. Overall, class were as expected.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I had to find this program on my own, because there was no way to study abroad in Spain through my study abroad office unless you were in a certain level of Spanish. I recommend my home school to allow kids to study at IES again, it is a great program, and Barcelona is a great city.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Responsible for my own food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Orientation was in Valenica, a great opportunity to experience another city in Spain and meet other kids in the program.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe the whole time being there. Even with riots and rallies occurring in the city, I never once felt unsafe

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Plan well before hand, know how much traveling you want to do.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
