IES Abroad: Dublin - Study Abroad With IES Abroad

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned all about Irish culture and history through my classes, traveling, field trips, and interactions with locals. It was thrilling and amazing to learn so much about a place you are living in for a temporary time. It was completely worthwhile.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I loved my classes, professors, and everything encompassed in my academic time.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The staff was the most amazing staff I have ever met. They were helpful and encouraging, and were there for any problem or suggestion needed.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved my apartment and roommates, but it was pretty far from the IES center as well as the city center. I didn't mind the walk, but some of my roommates were frustrated with it.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

IES abroad gives you health insurance and has a 24/7 phone number to call with any emergency.

* Safety:

I always felt safe, but it is still a city setting so you have to be aware.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It was a pretty expensive city to live in in terms of transportation, food, and drink. If you plan smartly it is very do-able.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
