Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The grading systems were very confusing, teaching methods uneffective, uncomfortable classroom structure. No direction on assignments or student expectations. Grades are given out months after the fact. I struggled greatly with this aspect the entire semester.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The IES staff were very kind and fun to talk to. They arranged monthly coffee meetings which were a fun time to check in and talk about recent adventures.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing was very far from city center (nightlife) making it expensive and inconvenient to travel. On the positive it was a 5 minute walk from class making it convenient. Many things had to be bought separately as were not provided. Despite the inconvenient location, each room had its own bathroom which made for a nice living arrangement.

* Food:

Food was fairly expensive. Future students should hit up Lidl and other discount chains for cheap eats. Eating out is very expensive.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The people I met made this experience amazing. Traveling on the weekends was also fun as well. This was by far the best part of studying abroad.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Dublin was fairly safe and I never felt like my safety was compromised while walking around by myself.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Buy a bike for easy and cheap travel. Do not use city bus very often. Live in the city center as opposed to the suburbs if at all possible.
