Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

As an American, my knowledge of how the European Union was founded and continues to work on a daily basis was quite limited. This program was one of the best experiences I have had academically as the learning in the classroom was compounded by the academic field trips throughout the EU showing its many facets in different types of European countries.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program was very good with paperwork and making sure that everything was accounted for.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Lived in a flat with 4 German college students- probably the best part of the experience and by the end of the program my better friends were local Germans and not Americans.

* Food:

If you can cook you'll be fine. The local food was good though, especially the beer.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The city of Freiburg is more or less a large college city that is full of young students, cafes, bar, and great places to be.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

It is important to be smart, but never had a problem being an American.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

I admit did not speak much German because I was fortunate enough to have German roommates who spoke english, however many of my friends on the program who did want to spoke and learned a lot of German.

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? If you want to see Europe- this is the program for you, even if you do not speak German. The travel component truly makes this program a unique and valuable learning experiance
