What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Overall, I've received a much better literary education in Spain that I would have in Austin. I've enjoyed my classes.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The staff was "friendly" (they knew how to please Americans who expect perky smiles, etc.) They made a tremendous effort to accomodate students.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

It was THE BEST. I lived with an older lady, who treated me like royalty.

I LOVED it. I definitely have been blessed.

* Food:

She knew how to cook. That's all I can really say.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It was fun.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Altogether things were fine. It seemed to be common sense.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Perhaps offer the students all meals at homestay

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

Immerse American students much more. Force them to be separated from other Americans. Period.
