By Meredith B (International Studies, Macalester College) - abroad from 09/07/2015 to 12/11/2015 with
IES Abroad: Madrid - Language & Area Studies
I gained a confidence in myself, not only with my Spanish language skills, but also in my abilities to be able to accomplish things and grow in a completely different environment in which everything was completely foreign.

The professors in the IES Abroad program were incredible. They were clearly passionate about their subjects and I greatly enjoyed learning from them. |

I did not have any health issues while abroad, but they clearly outlined what to do if one should occur. |

Madrid is an incredibly safe city, that being said the program does everything within their power to prepare you for different situations. I did not have a single problem while in Madrid. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
It was because I studied in Madrid that I learned so much about myself and my culture. Having this completely different perspective of the United States is something I will value for a long time to come. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
