What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I didn't really know what to expect when going into this program because it was my first time ever going abroad. I was super nervous about safety concerns abroad and the community in general. I had to learn how to be independent and spent a lot of time traveling. I think it was super worth it because I got a lot of insight into the business culture in Italy while also being able to experience a new culture. I gained a lot of insight into how different real-life experiences are from just reading about a culture online.

  • The website the courses used were not super user-friendly
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? To rely on and trust the IES staff more because the first time one of my roommates got sick we tried going to the hospital ourselves but that didn't work out well and was extremely complicated. The IES staff members were able to easily get her to where she needed and got checked out easily.

The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
