What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My French improved significantly in the four months I lived in Nantes! I also made plenty of French friends and engaged in many cultural events that allowed me to get to know the city better.

* What could be improved? |
|
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | When I arrived in France, I was very afraid to speak to locals because I did not want to make mistakes. I only got over it by embracing my imperfect French. I wish someone had told me not to be afraid to make mistakes, because you will find a way to make yourself understood. Also, don’t be afraid to have new experiences you won’t be able to have elsewhere. |
Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
