Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The french professors were very accommodating to the students needs and abilities.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Very laid back but encouraging atmosphere.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My host father was incredible, he made the transition much easier for me and he was always willing to help me with homework and understanding french culture.

* Food:

Great quality and nice environment, though it was a tad bizarre eating dinner well after 8:00pm.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It was so-so.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I never had health issues.

* Safety:

I didn't experience any issues regarding safety.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I am a rather low-maintenance individual so most of my money was spent on food so my costs were kept rather low.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Roughly 50 euro per week.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Advanced
How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Most host families choose to be host families because they enjoy sharing YOUR company. Feel free to try and engage them in conversation because it will do wonders for you. Also, don't go out drinking with all of the other american students, instead travel with a small group and focus on the conversations you have with the natives that you meet.
