IES Abroad: Paris Summer – Marketing

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so much both inside and outside of the program. There are two marketing courses and one French course offered, of which students select two. I chose to take both marketing courses because I felt that my language proficiency was high enough. They were both very interesting and were applicable to daily life in Paris! I also learned a tremendous amount about myself and how I can handle situations when I am so far from home. The experience is absolutely worth it.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • The city! Paris is such an incredible city packed with food, culture, art, fashion, and music!
  • The people! The IES Abroad staff in Paris are so wonderful and willing to assist you with anything.
  • The cultural excursions! Staff occasionally offer optional trips to places in the city that you may not go otherwise, which is very helpful in understanding what the true culture is like!
* What could be improved?
  • I don't have any specific suggestions.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish that I had planned more for the weather, which was wildly unpredictable while I was there. It was actually fairly cold and rainy until the middle of June, then very hot and humid. I also wish I would have been more open to things early one! By the time I learned to really embrace everything, we were half way through the program!
