Holistic Learning Past Review
By A student (University of California - Irvine) - abroad from 09/01/2014 to 12/13/2014 with
IES Abroad: Shanghai - Economy, Business & Society
What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Studying abroad with IES in Shanghai was a life changing experience. I met people from all over the country that I definitely would not have met otherwise, we had fun field trips to places like Suzhou and Hong Kong, and the classes were both fun and practical. It was the epitome of a holistic learning experience. We were given plenty of free time, meaning an ability to explore on our own. The living quarters were beautiful, very clean and spacious, and it reminded me of a hotel. The only issues were that prior to the trip, we were supposed to have the option of homestays as well as arranged internships. However, both of these were cut from the program which was a bit disappointing.
