What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Studying abroad in Sydney made me realize that anywhere in the world is only a plane ride away. In 2009/2010 I went back to Sydney under a 1 year work/travel visa and lived and worked there. I am now in South Korea living and working. Neither of these 2 things would have happened if I wouldn't have studied abroad. It opened my eyes, and everyday I am thankful for my time abroad in college. I think it is the ONE thing in college that is so important for a student to do-- study abroad!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

UNSW School of Social Work took the major extremely serious and all the students and professors were very professional and passionate.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

My IES leader was always there for us, informative, and very personable.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We had so many problems with our apartment-- flooding, cockroaches, cold water going out, etc. plus it was very far from school.

* Food:

Many charming Aussie dishes, similar to American dishes but had a couple ones only known to Aussies.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

The Wellness Center on campus sometimes couldn't see you the day of and you had to wait until the next day which was problematic if you were really sick.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? If you are even considering it, DO IT!! The type of student to benefit most from this is someone who doesn't mean being so far away from home, who wants to be in an English speaking country, and who wants a laid back culture.
