A Very Eye-Opening Experience Past Review

IES Abroad: Vienna Summer - Internship
Interning introduced me to a field of work I've only been somewhat involved with. It was an incredibly valuable experience for me to have, and it was a great location to have it in.

Personal Information
| How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | None |
Review Your Program
| * Overall educational experience Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. | The optional German course offered was absolutely phenomenal. The Internship seminar became a little confusing when the syllabus was deviated from and assignments changed without notice. |
| * Host Country Program Administration On-site administration of your program | Very helpful. Went out of their way to accomodate me. |
| * Housing: How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? | The apartment was very new and modernized. Such close quarters with all of the other interns was sometimes a lot to handle. |
| * Food: | Living in a big city, there's always good food to find. |
| * Social & Cultural Integration: How integrated did you feel with the local culture? | Our role as interns had us acting like local Viennese. The real Viennese aren't always so pleased when you don't speak fluent German, however. |
| * Health Care: How well were health issues addressed during the program? | No health care incidents. |
| * Safety: | Never felt unsafe. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? | Yes Vienna was a great city. Lots to do, but not overwhelming in size, and a very charming local culture. |
Finances
| * Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) | If you learn how to adjust what you eat and what you buy, it can be very affordable. |
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 100 |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Don't eat out because you're feeling lazy and don't want to cook. Save that money for when your friends want to all go get food together. |
Language
| * Did your program have a foreign language component? | No |
