Get ready, set, don't stop, go! Past Review
By A student (Trinity University) - abroad from 09/07/2016 to 12/22/2016 with
IFSA: Edinburgh - University of Edinburgh
I learned a lot more about myself, as expected, what makes you tick, what you need vs what you want. What makes you happy, what drives you crazy. All in all I would do it all over again in a split second, wish I was there now.

Review Your Program

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Outstanding! |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Very helpful with all your questions or concerns. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Some flats are seem far away when researching, but they really aren't once you're there. |
* Food: |
Great food! Lots of soups and stews, and lots of ethnic diversity, vegetarians and vegan's heaven as every restaurant has vegetarian options and if no vegan option, they can typically make one for you. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Felt closer to lots of the international students studying there because that's mainly who I lived with, however in class is when you got closer to locals. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Felt very safe due to it being a large country with loads of people out walking about. Always trust your gut and go with people or take a taxi if you don't feel safe! |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
IFSA-Butler was extremely helpful and friendly. Very professional, and new answers to the questions you had well before we did. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
The U.K. is just far more expensive than the States. I ate out a lot as well, so its easy to rack up a bill. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $100-200 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Limit your drinks and food out. |
