What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes, it was a fantastic experience. The courses were challenging and interesting. People native to Galway are extremely friendly and almost always willing to sit for 5 minutes and chat. Galway is also a great central location to travel around Ireland and throughout Europe.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

NUI Galway offers a broad curriculm to study abroad students, ranging from Celtic studies, early Irish law, architecture, to political studies (historical and current). Courses were challenging and the professors were eager to engage study abroad students.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Study Abroad Students from the U.S. were housed together in very comfortable flats - four to a unit, each with own bedroom / bathroom, a nice kitchen. The walk to the campus is a little long, but is scenic and give you an opportunity to view the city.

* Food:

If your palate is somewhat bland - Galway is the place for you!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Galway is a beautiful city with a lot to offer. In addition, it is easy to travel around Ireland from Galway (Bus lines are always available and both airports are within a few hours).

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Butler University / IFSA took student safety and health very seriously. I was not aware of any issues during my program.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back
