You get out of it what you put into it Past Review
By A student (International & Global Studies, Brandeis University) - abroad from 08/05/2013 to 12/16/2013 with
IFSA: Lima - Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú
The program really improved my Spanish and enhanced my independence. The program staff was very supportive and provided a great orientation as well as support throughout. I think it was worthwhile, although if I did it again I would make more of an effort to immerse myself in Peruvian life, explore Lima and make more friends. Read my blog (http://www.ifsa-butler.org/blog/?author=208) for more reflections.

Lima is not very safe and stealing is an art -- if you follow all of the safety advice given in orientation you will probably be okay (and if you stay in Miraflores and San Isidro it is relatively safe) but still there were a lot of robberies and pickpocketing that happened to my group |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes

A Look Back
* What did you like most about the program? |
|
* What could be improved? |
|
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | You have to step out of your shell and out of your comfort zone a bit to get the most out of the program - the more you put into the experience, the more you'll get out of it. It won't be easy (especially the volunteering and the classes in Spanish!) but it will be worth it. |
Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Academic or LinguistYou went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you! |
