Will Trash Your GPA Past Review
By A student (Government, Wesleyan University) - abroad from 07/15/2014 to 11/23/2014 with
IFSA: Sydney - University of Sydney
What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Australia was a really fun time, but unfortunately, I look back on it in a negative light because of the way IFSA Butler handled an academic misunderstanding. It was worthwhile in terms of life experience, but not worth the destruction of my GPA, which I had spent years building just to have IFSA Butler wreck it by stubbornly refusing to drop a failed class that I had permission from every other involved party to drop.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Australia is a great place and so is University of Sydney. But beware: IFSA Butler will not help you when your transcript gets destroyed through administrative snafus. I was misinformed about the prerequisites for a class and got zero academic support on how to deal with the problem. I received an F in the class, then the professor from University of Sydney and my home university agreed to drop the F from my transcript due to the misunderstanding. But IFSA Butler refused to adjust my transcript. The IFSA Butler staff who manage transcripts were unhelpful and unsupportive. I had a terrific time in Australia and wish I could leave IFSA Butler a higher review. So unfortunate. |
