Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The course did not feel like it required to much academic rigor, but the most knowledge you have previously and the more you interact the better the experience you will have. Each company presenter is very knowledgeable and can answer quite a few questions. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Handled with the utmost care and experience. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
For the overall price that I paid for the course, the hotels that we stayed in, the Novotel in Beijing and the Central Hotel in Shanghai, were fantastic. Both are top notch hotels that could compete in any market. |
* Food: |
The food that was provided was o.k. Part of the fun with this trip is discovering the local cuisine and trying new things. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
In each city we got a pretty good amount of cultural exposure. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
N/A |
* Safety: |
Having been to cities like NYC, Washington D.C., L.A., and Miami, i can honestly say that Beijing and Shanghai felt far safer. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
As a business major, the meetings with company executives and free time to explore the local area made this trip far better than a standard study aboard program. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
It depends on what you do. Some days very easy, and some cost a good amount. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Bring at least $100-$200 more than you think you might need. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
It was only in a few select cases. |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | None |
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | None |
How many hours per day did you use the language? | 0 |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | I suck at languages, so no i do not |
