Learned a lot about China that I didn't fully understand before I went. It was 100% worthwhile.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Companies they took us too were all entertaining and very informative. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Always there to help and good at keeping up up to date on any program changes. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
WAY exceeded my expectations. Both hotels were wonderful. |
* Food: |
Tour guides gave us great places to go. Never got anything I didn't like. Food was amazing. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Seminar made sure to take us places that would teach us about the cultural. Eating dinner with a local family was very fun and our company presenters did a great job explaining the cultural. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Health care was addressed mostly at our first company the US, Embassy. They did a good job to help us get a basic understanding of Health Care. |
* Safety: |
Never once felt unsafe while in the large cities. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
Was very well put together and I probably could've spent a couple more days there. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Food is very cheap out there, but that adds up. some of us spent most of our money on food. I would estimate anywhere from $100 to $200 a week depending on how much you want to eat. Breakfast was included in both hotels so that helped save. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Food - close to $200 Each Week. Other - $700 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | If your on a tight budget bring protein bars you can eat for lunch. Bring more cash than you think you need to avoid ATM fees. Save most of your money while in Beijing, Shanghai was the place to spend it in and find souvenirs. |

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | I wish I knew to take more cash with me that could've been exchanged so I didn't have to pay ATM fee. I also wish I knew how hot and humid it gets our there during the summer. |
Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
