Support Social Change Through Ethical International Research
Join IPSL in advancing global social change through ethical, community-based research. By supporting NGOs in collecting and analyzing vital data, you’ll help strengthen local programs while gaining meaningful, hands-on experience in international research.

“My research with IPSL gave me real-life exposure to international research and the opportunity to help the community I served. It’s been transformative for both my career and education.” — Leondra, South Africa
Social/Behavioral Sponsored Research
For those new to global research, IPSL offers a unique opportunity to step into a leading role. Participants are trained and approved to act as Principal Investigators on Sponsored Research projects—designed and led by IPSL’s international partner organizations. You’ll conduct primary research that directly supports the host organization's mission, providing actionable insights that drive local impact. These collaborative projects are sustainable and student-driven, with multiple contributors over time, ensuring an ethical, long-term approach to service and research abroad.
Independent Advocacy Research
IPSL also supports students in developing their own research from the ground up. Working closely with local organizations, you’ll design, implement, and publish human-subject research that fills critical knowledge gaps and empowers communities through data.
“Researching while abroad gave me the opportunity to cross cultural barriers and connect with my participants on a human level. It deeply enriched my entire experience.”
— IPSL Graduate
With full support throughout the research process—from conception to publication—IPSL makes ethical, high-impact research accessible, no matter your background. The result is a project that enhances your resume, strengthens your graduate school or career prospects, and makes a lasting difference.
“Conducting my own research gave me the skills to plan and execute a project start to finish. It was the most valuable preparation I could have had for my future career.”
— Shelby, IPSL Graduate
Take Laura, an IPSL participant who researched the spread of Chikungunya in a low-income neighborhood. Working alongside a local clinic, she conducted community outreach, gathered infection data, and helped the clinic secure government funding—all through the power of student-led research.
Make Research Matter
At IPSL, research isn't just academic—it's transformative. You’ll build skills, grow professionally, and engage deeply with a new culture, all while contributing to something bigger than yourself.
